Engineering is one of the most sought-after and respected degrees in Nepal. Every year, thousands of students who have completed level +2 or an equivalent exam enroll in engineering schools. Technical colleges in Nepal are a constituent part of and are affiliated with Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University, Pokhara University, Purbanchal University, and Mid-Western and Far-Western Universities.
The Bachelor of Engineering is a 4-years or 8-semester program offered by more than 50 colleges in Nepal.
ELIGIBLE:
Students scoring a minimum of 45% or C
in each 10+2 subject (Physics or Biology group with two paper-based Maths) or 45% for engineering or an equivalent course are eligible for admission to take the exam. Physics groups or students with 2 Maths are only eligible to apply to IOE while it is not required in other colleges.

Pulchowk campus is one of the top most preferred Engineering colleges in Nepal. It is affiliated with Tribhuvan University and is the first technical school in Nepal founded in 1930. Kathmandu University is the third oldest university in Nepal offering undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels of study. It is situated in Dhulikhel, 23 km east of Kathmandu. In the world university ranking, it is the top-ranked university in Nepal securing 3145th place.
It is also one of the most preferred engineering schools in Nepal having a limited number of seats.

3. Nepal Engineering College, NEC (PU)
Nepal Engineering College (NEC) is the oldest Engineering School affiliated with Pokhara University. College affiliated with Pokhara University allows you to study engineering even if you are not from a physical stream in +2.

4. Paschimanchal Campus, IOE (WRC)
Paschimanchal Campus, IOE (WRC) is one of the four constituent campuses of IOE. It was established in 2038 BS under the affiliation of Tribhuvan University. It is located in Pokhara, Kaski district. It is also popular as WRC.
WRC focuses on the development of highly skilled engineering manpower in various disciplines according to the demanded requirements of the country.

5. Purwanchal Campus, IOE (ERC)
Purwanchal Campas, IOE (ERC) was formally organized under the Institute of Engineering (IOE), Tribhuvan University (TU) and all the construction works were completed in 2043 BS (1984). ERC is one of the constituent campuses of Tribhuvan University (TU) and one of the associate engineering campuses of the Institute of Engineering (IOE) which is a comprehensive, non-profit making, autonomous institution and pioneering institution of higher education level in Nepal funded by the Government of Nepal. It is situated at Gangalal Marg, Tinkune, Dharan-8, Sunsari district in the eastern region of Nepal.
The campus was established in Paush, 2034 BS (1976) under the loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The technical assistance was provided by the United Kingdom Government (UK) in the agreement with the United Kingdom Government held in BS 2035.
There are currently more than 1200 students studying in various programs. There are more than 100 faculty and more than 60 administrative and support staff on campus.

6. Gandaki College of Engineering and Science, PU
Gandaki College of Engineering and Science (GCES) located in Lamachaur, Pokhara, is also one of the top 10 engineering schools in Nepal. GCES was established in 1998 as an extension with the support of the Gandaki Boarding School Board of Trustees and the Unity Delegation to Nepal. t affiliated with Pokhara University, grants BE degrees. Software and Computers B.E. (recently added), and subject to the semester structure and testing policy of this institution. The Technical Council of Nepal accepted GCES as a permanent member in 2003.
It was founded in 1998 and officially launched in 1999. The school offers Bachelor of Engineering (Software, Computer Science) and Master of Science (Information Systems Engineering) degrees, under all Pokhara University semesters and test systems. GBS/GCES Public Education Trust oversees the college, which is a non-profit organization controlled by the Nepal Ministry of Education.

NCIT, or Nepal College of Information Technology, is one of the top IT engineering colleges in Nepal. It started operating in 2000. The campus is situated in Balkumari, Lalitpur. The college currently provides Bachelor’s and Master’s level engineering and management courses. It’s connected to Pokhara University.

9. Thapathali Campus (TU)
The second college in our list of Top 10 Engineering colleges in Nepal is Thapathali Campus, commonly known as Thapathali Engineering Campus which is located in Thapathali, Kathmandu. The campus, which is in the heart of Kathmandu, was built in 2023 B.S. to train middle-level engineers, and over time, it expanded its offerings to include bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. It is still Nepal’s second-most sought-after engineering campus after Pulchowk Campus, despite being 1.25 km from the country’s major campus.
This is a government college supported by the government of Nepal. Applications for admission can only be submitted by students who have passed the IOE entrance examination. Preference is used to admit students based on their IOE Entrance Exam results.
